The info dumping is just so info dumpy. Chapter 1 was a doozy being dumped with all the info on a bunch of characters but then it calmed down a bit, but the way the conversations happen throughout kept it going later. You could tell the whole conversation had a purpose to set up expectations.

Pity because I'm actually enjoying the plot and characters
