Alright, there has been some redemption for the plot. It is very in line with the OG play which again, make plot points seemed forced and over the top fantastic for the story that is trying to be told. Seems to be just another unworthy addition to the ambitious feminine rage genre

I'm incredibly confused on what the role the crime organization HIVE fills. they are the evil women only crime group that makes is behind most movement politically and financially in the world that follows this misandrist manifesto... but they offer magic contracts to men for unlimited power for 24 years and then kill them. for what? it doesn't make sense. and this plotline of the SAed girl also doesn't make sense

man, meph and faustus have a weird dynamic I am not into. it's like aquainences to lovers type of thing but not? I guess more in an intellectual sense. but as even the book says, I am annoyed Meph is not a lesbian.

I have been finding it very obvious when a plot point (again haven't read the source material) is only happening because it happened in the play. not even at all subtle.

The incel personality trait feels forced. I don't buy a guy with the intelligence to bullshit his way onto military bases/situations and has CREATED A VACCINE FOR THE BLACK PLAGUE has not studied and perfected the art of charm and seduction. Some contradictions in his thinking that is common for incels make sense, but that does not. Plus Meph stand in being interested in him also feels forced.

the line "...he was 29 and basically still a virgin..." after raping a woman is truly a very difficult line for me to move on from.. I know it's a character I am meant to enjoy watching fall from grace, but I still have to get through him rising to grace

I am not enjoying the real life-ing of magic plot points. the devils and demons are secret organization agents with all the money and time to constantly watch and fuck with a dude? lame.

also, the main character, after committing a heinous crime, is still trying to be portrayed as an impressive interesting guy whose head we are stuck with for 500 more pages? realllly tempting to dnf, but ill hold out

well, that whole sexual assault scene and the build to it was not done well. everyone seemed to really act out of character just so that the plot point could happen there.

I am going into this story blind, as I only know the overall "deal with the devil" bit with the OG story. So far, it's weird and moody (positive)
