Wander is a little trouble maker, attempting to goad his brother, Sharp, into hunting the porcupine. He is convinced he’s going to be lead wolf one day.
I can’t help but wonder if this is going to be reminiscent of the “Falling Rock” mythology of Appalachia, but with wolves instead of indigenous peoples & Wander will find his way home, thus becoming pack leader. (That’s my early hunch at least, lol)

When the father wolf takes Wander to ~the hunting watch place~ to listen&observe with him, Wander sees a skunk for the first time. The father tells him the white stripe is a warning &its worse than poison. So then Wander must watch ~not lunch~ walk away, was a cute scene&made me snort out loud.
It will take me awhile to read with my 4 year old. He fell asleep after only 6 pages lol

“To all who wonder in search of a home” is the dedication page.
So far, we can only read a few pages. I know this is a middle school read, but in order to follow along, I have to break it down a lot.
Regardless, I think this will work with practice.
Ps- I wonder if Wander will be future leader one day, or if it will be Sharp? Pounce? Wag? Warm? (All the pups names— cute.)
