Manfred is a monster. His horrific nature brought out by his dwindling legacy. Destroying everything around him to keep it intact, even the castle that is the "crown jewel".
His villainy and ego deplorably causes him not bury his dead son, imprison an innocent peasant, and hunt a delicate young woman.
Isabelle does want to be forced into the life Manfred is offering. She is being chased like a beast by a beast.
