Reading this reminded me of what my professor told us. Business people care about money, educators care about making a difference. And that is not to say that they are horrible people, but that is at the center of what they do. Achievements , success, & awards mean nothing when a special person is able to reach a multitude of students. Students who will remember you for all you were, not all you accomplished.

Morrie definitely saw things as they were. Not in a factual, logical matter of fact way, but in an I see through you way. He was able to see what people were communicating when to everyone else they only saw the action. I love when books take place in other decades and it feels like you are transported to a different era of time.

Seeing Mitch grow is something I didn’t expect also.

I also think that every aspiring teacher needs to read this. Teachers make a huge impact, and this is clear it goes further than academics. They teach you how to live. How to approach challenges. How to see the world. You have the possibility to be someone’s Morrie. A willingness to share on the teachers part, a willingness to listen on the students.

How a man can be so optimistic and clear headed in such a terrifying time of his life is beyond me. However, it is also beautiful,

“Let it come in. We think we don’t deserve love, we think if we let it in we’ll become too soft. but a wise man named Levine said it right. He said, “‘love is the only rational act.’”

Just made a connection- Noah kahan my fav song ever, “no thing defines a man that makes him soft and sentimental…”

WISE MEN.

I’m already loving the premise of this, especially knowing it’s all true. Morrie is already so lovable and I love the way Mitch describes him, he feels real. (Ofc bc he was ) but I can tell it will help us connect to Morrie. Morrie is a fighter, taking his fate in stride. Writing is great.
