The first chapter(?) and the interwoven events of the narrator’s childhood and the monarch butterfly metaphor are beautiful.
What particularly got me was the picture of monarchs fleeing Vietnam’s “napalm sky”, remaining unscathed. It reminded me of the colourful culture that immigrants bring with them, that it is more than a person who flees a country, but a soul, a group of souls, and their traditions.
