Reading about ww2 freaks me out because mine — and a generation of other’s — grandfather(s) made it back and like. We carry that epigenetically?. The horror of it; you’re told as a kid your grandparent fought in xyz war, but that only means so much when you’re a child. when you’re an adult, especially today when we are exposed to atrocities constantly, the reality of what that means is jarring.

“A taste for the miniature was one aspect of an orderly spirit”. Goes on to liken writing and reading to miniaturisation: i agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Reading and writing is consuming/creating worlds miniature in their size, verbally, but the collectively conscious impact can be huge
