Why did I feel like I was reading a doctoral dissertation? What is Wilson's message, in his geographic and historical ramblings from one city to another within a chapter dedicated to a specific city, is a mystery.
I was forced to read this for a book club, but I quit midway because it was so reductive. I learned very little that I didn't already know about these "metropolises" from the past to the present.
