I kind of love that Rae just started saying random words and the boat captain got super freaked out. He ended up telling them everything he knows (knew) about the illegal slave trade that he is part of. I love how smart Rae is, using superstition to scare the boat captain is just one recent example of her brilliance. I really hope she doesn’t get more hurt during the end of this book/ series.

I really like this book. The first two books where amazing. This one started off basically were the last one left off, which is good because I have been stressing about if Rae will be okay for months, while waiting for this book. I’m really glad Bren showed up because that means the Rae is no longer alone in a city she doesn’t know. Allies are always good, especially in this book. I am so excited to read more!!!
