The authour has hinted that the narrator might be unreliable. Some of he conflict between the characters feels a bit forced. When disseminate information, the authour maybe trying to maintain a bit of mystery and build-up to major reveals, or he might be trying to avoid infodumps, but he isn't quite pulling it off.
