I cannot say I don't relate to the why Chris is thinking, but being aware of how he left everything behind and how he recklessly went into the wild troubles me as extremely arrogant. I do admire what he was seeking, but there are ways to live an ascetic isolated life as a hermit without being a reckless fool, if he had prepared more for the trail, he would've completed his journey. I cannot sympathise yet.
