An absolute MUST READ for English students on the “usage” and “seeing” of literature. Too often, I think, I am tempted to read my own self into a book, when the entire purpose of literature is to move beyond myself (while still retaining my individuality). So refreshing to see literature not as a tool, but as an encounter. I must resist the mechanizations and sermonizing of art!
