Very good novel that lives up to its reputation. I am usually against abridged versions of anything, but on the fence about it with this novel. It immerses you in 19th century Paris which I appreciate, but it often was tedious wading through the “diversion” essays only remotely related to the plot. The main storyline was so good that they were reading equivalent to Life Insurance ads crammed into your fav tv shows.
