The "Stupidity Test" is the chucklesome highlight of Bryson's book for me. So far.

Thanks to Bill Bryson, I had a vivid (imaginary) visit to Skegness, England. This seaside town, by the North Sea, was rainy.

Shopping included a clothing store with garb that, according to Bill, your grandmother might have worn. While a nearby thrift shop was selling clothing that one's grandmother could have worn and, then, given away.

All all this narration with Bill was spiced with his dry wit.

Bill Bryson's love of museums is contagious. And this Goodreader was already a lover of museums!

Often I laughed out loud, loudly.

Bill Bryson has a delicious voice as a writer, especially his sense of humor. I recommend his books... unless you Goodreaders already have too many people in your life who make you laugh.

Dryly, Bill Bryson recounts his attempt to go to a Museum on a Sunday. Six in a row were closed--though they were major museums in England.

When he arrived at the 7th, the good news was... Though open for about five more minutes, they were closing.

"I'll come back tomorrow," Bill said.
"Oh, we're closed on Mondays" replied the rep. at Museum #7.

Today I learned about a hilarious conversation between Intrepid Bill and a shopowner who clearly hated his job, as well as most people.

I don't want to create a spoiler, but this mini conversation includes a plot twist that I never saw coming. 😄

Oops, Fellow Goodreaders. Today, for the first time in ages, I was able to accurately read the teensy-tiny number on my phone for the percentage of this book I've been reading on Libby.

The good news, is much more is a'coming on the road to Little Dribbling.

Bill Bryson's writing about Stonehenge is my favorite part of this book so far.

And Simon Davies, if you ever go onto Facebook, please accept my thanks for how you drove me there. What a gift!

Bill's account of going to Tintagel is one heck of a romance buster!

He is such a delightfully quirky tour guide.

Bryson's combination of geniality, wit, appreciativeness and curmudgeonhood are pure recreation for me in this book.
