Ok so, so far this doesn’t register as a book written for a scientific audience but more like a general audience. I don’t like this in sci-fi, if you want to write a sci-fi on concepts as complex as evolutionary biology don’t stop every five seconds to explain what divergent evolution is or what an autotroph is.

Seriously this lowkey reads like a diary entry. It’s to utopian and unrealistic as well. If this wasn’t so short it would be a DNF i just, how are these lot family/coworkers/sexual partners/best friends and there’s no conflict at all. SORRY i don’t get it? mix even two of these on earth and we get so much drama but no everyone on this mission is a pacifist who LOVES science and never has any hard feelings XX

Though the one thing i like is how much these scientists care about leaving no trace and not capitalising these planets but just discovery and academia. I think it’s remarkably human and an implementer of hope!

Secondly there is awe and wonder but i just don’t care about these charecters? They just exist? We’re two planets in this is insane why do I know vague tropes and their names and that’s it. It’s a short book, at least make me care before showing me spectacles. Our main character especially is ridiculously unremarkable. Just a female protagonist.
