I am actually glad I am not someone that dnf what they read. Clearly the first part would have made me quit. But now that some elements are out of the way it’s more balanced.
Even though it’s a slow burn you still need to tell things in between. I am not a fan of the stories that stall or are redundant. It feels like the writer doesn’t trust the readers.

Well I love the concepts, the lore also. That’s a nice takeaway.

It’s so frustrating to be so aligned with the themes and story and yet how it’s told ruins it all.

Yeah no forget it. This isn’t good.
I don’t know why this is doing what it’s doing but it’s doing it.
I kinda feel hypocritical saying this is a mess but that’s not the real problem here. Why is it deflating the tension this way ?

Also I am not one to go all “logical” on the plot or the characters behaviours but this doesn’t feel like it makes sense. Even with justifications.

I like the eerie mystique but I’m not a fan of the nature versus tech framing. I prefer much so the stance of a Nausicaa on the subject.
It’s even more annoying when there are those semi godlike beings that represent nature. They basically have no needs, no problems whatsoever about survival and from their position judge the fragile beings that got to actually outlive their “natural fate”.
