Only 15 pages in and this has the most infuriating writing style. The author must have gone to the Olivie Blake school of writing 100 words to say NOTHING. How is the plot supposed to go anywhere if we have to read three pages of the MC’s introspection every time they have a thought.

At first it was just a wisp of smoke, an impression of something that walked like a man and had a head and arms and legs like a man but no features, no face.
