are we serious? you'd think with the POV being a child we'd watch him learn more about the world and reflect and challenge himself on what he knows but we actually just get long boring obvious (to us, as adult readers) moral conversations with uncle axel. i genuinely hope he gets killed off

bloody hell he's really labouring the point. and the expo dumps. i'm what a third of the way in and there's this much rapid fire world building which i don't see as being relevant at any point unless this book seriously does not have any of the blatant apologue-ic(??) themes it appears to have and is actually a vehicle for an adventure saga
