I can't help but find light echoes of The Broken Earth as I read. In a good way.
The City of the Missing = Dead Civ artifacts
A City that's kinda like a person = Father earth, etc.
Aras reminds me so much of Hoa... not in his appearance but rather as this ancient being that's stuck until the lead character comes along and he finds her intriguing.
It's like walking through a brand new city that feels like home.
