All Them Dogs used a similar conversational style as The Disappearers. But All Them Dogs didn’t feel as original to me—it felt like something I’d read or seen before. The Jamaican speech patterns and influence in The Disappearers are new to me, so they’re keeping my attention much more.

It’s a long book, but it never feels like it’s spinning its wheels. There’s always something happening.

As I tune into the conversational writing style, following along is starting to click. So far, the book has some humor too.

The premise is very much in my wheelhouse but the writing style is a little tricky so far for me. 🤞
