I can barely tear my eyes away form the late to write these. I feel like when your uncle is shouting at the tv like the sports team can hear him

I think the reason I dislike this reveal at first is because we haven’t seen a lot about Nan’s parents, outside of their various fights. But it makes more logical sense than ghosts I guess

I love terrible female characters who suffer and ruin their relationships and destroy every good thing they had going in a moment of desperation and can’t take it back. I need 500 books like this ASAP. “oh but theyre bad influences!” Not to me, I’m mentally sound and wouldn’t Cain and Abel someone for not including me. Let me have more irredeemable women in my fiction

HOLY SHIT. That hit harder than the skeletons, the funeral and Maggie. Maybe it’s my weird kid bias, but if I was Nan and literally committed a murder (or something like it? She came back) of someone I thought was my best friend and the victim said we weren’t even real friends? Throwing myself in the Devil’s eye goodbye
…I can only see this ending with both of them dead. These girls have ISSUES. I love it

Someone invent a new award called “thrillers that make my head hurt in a good way” so we can award it to this author right now. We’re alternating timelines. I’m going to scream

Holy crap. I can imagine this from Madsen’s POV, snd it all makes so much sense. But also, Nan is so hellbent on herself being the murderer, as realistic as the theory sounds, we have to believe our narrator. She’s given us no other options. She did all that

Rest in peace to every other thriller on my TBR. I am enraptured. I feel like I need to reread this book a few times in order for it all to click. Something shout the setting, the tension, snd the fear of the unknown reminds me of the books thst got me into thrillers in the first place. Those books were meant for younger audiences and don’t hold up as well, but this? Thriller gold.
