Parts of this book are very difficult to read, but I recommend it to anyone dealing with a history of trauma (or loving/working with anyone who is).

Evelyn M Thoughts on this book so far?

message 2: by SJ (new) - rated it 5 stars

SJ I'm finding it really helpful, with some chapters more helpful than others. The parts on "self-mothering" and "self-fathering" seemed reductive. The "what is your trauma type" is useful but imo a little oversimplified and a bit like the worst imaginable version of the Myers Briggs.
I've found the chapters on emotional flashbacks, the inner and outer critics, and trauma based co-dependency, to be the most helpful so far, and would recommend this book for those alone.
