I like how the book doesn’t shy away from showing how flawed people are and that even in marriages, there would be mistakes and conflicts. Reading the tension Sid and Charity have makes me uncomfortable but I am appreciative that it is written here. I would hate having to always give in to the other person’s confrontation, I understand why Sid surrenders. I bet he’s very frustrated but keeps the peace. :(

I absolutely love the writing style. What interests me so much about literary fiction is that it has the ability to make me feel like I intimately know the character like they were a person. I envision Sally, Charity, Larry, and Sidney so clearly and I feel integrated in their life. The value of friendship that Larry, the narrator, holds is similar to mine: it has the power to change your life.
