reading this for an exam. i can already say with confidence that much better literature on similar situations exists, that this is no brilliant unique specimen of capturing the crises of american working class lives in deindustrializing areas, that this for sure mostly was successful bcs it pulled on enough conservative and liberal heartstrings and memories to serenade this myopic account.
