I have now finished the second chapter and feel much more immersed into the story. In comparison to the Netflix series, this is far more detailed and organic, and I am looking forward to see what chapter three has in store.

Initially, the book took a long while to grab my interest with so much “filler” and hints to the previous two books. However, this is no longer the case, and the story is flowing in a much more linear direction whilst holding more sense than the first two books. The characters that are now present are interesting and exciting, and the descriptors to which the scenes are told hold so much weight.

The story so far has alternated between Dandelion/Yennefer and Geralt/Ciri, and there had been a great mix of action and dialogue. The story is still finishing off its introductions as to where the characters are, and the content looks to be headed in an interesting direction with the first line of chapter 2 reading “Triss Merigold”, who was thought to be deceased.

Up to page #25. My initial thoughts on this book so far was that it is slow. However, I now understand its purpose in catching you up with previous stories and lore, especially that of Nilfgard.
