idk how to describe this other than revelatory. i usually struggle with non fiction but this is smooth cruising. in the midst of AI powered drones, robot ICE dogs, 10 hour screen times, and vanishing public institutions berman is the clearest voice on modernity ive heard maybe ever, and he wrote this almost 50 years ago at this point.
