Jadis steals a horse, jewelry and a cart and rides recklessly across London finally stopping at the house where Digory has the idea to grab hold of her with the yellow ring to take her back to the wood between worlds. A large crowd forms with police to complain about Jadis and makes it hard for Digory to get near her.

The queen or witch holds onto Polly as they travel into the in between worlds and then grabs hold of Digory and gets into their world. Uncle Andrew becomes the Witches minion and he is in love with her but she views him useless in terms of magic but useful for her to start taking over this world.

After ringing the bell, they found out the spell of the bell. They awoke Queen Jadis of Charn who was the queen of the whole world because she killed everything in the world because her sister wouldn’t give her the thrown. Queen Jadis and her family are all monsters by the sound of it and she wants to go to Digory and Polly’s world because it is a young world and she wishes to rule it but they seem to slip away.

I loved the back and forth with Polly and Digory bickering at each other in this chapter. They come across a strange world where everything is quiet and in ruins but a cold quiet unlike the warm in between wood. There are all these statues of people and their faces continue to get more solemn and furious looking and Digory is intrigued by a pillar with a hammer and a bell. He hits it and all starts to go bad.

The world in between worlds was a very interesting chapter on where the yellow rings brought them. This place was like their crawl space between the houses in the sense nothing was there except accesses to the other worlds uncle Andrew wished to go to.
