For reasons which satisfy myself, this card has been interchanged with that of Justice, which is usually numbered eight. As the variation carries nothing with it which will signify to the reader, there is no cause for explanation.

The chapter where he’s really annoyed about all the falsehoods spread about tarot is the best part. He is a hater but the charlatanry is enough to do anyone’s head in! This chapter should be read for an old-timey explanation of why tarot comes from Egypt is wrong. First time I’ve read Gebelin’s reasons listed for his Egyptian hypothesis
