this is not to say the writing isn’t good/unique. first 135 pages of this I found super interesting, great social commentary, interesting literary devices. even though kind of infuriating & bored me at times. I guess Im not a fan of excessive “unreliable narrator” use and just the amount of space taken up by mentioning brands. Like I get it. But pages and pages in every chapter. I got it the first 80 pages, could’ve maybe scaled back just a bit. Anyway, reading other reviews, people said this was exceptionally gory and I am not someone who has ever been able to tolerate horror or gore but this intrigued me just for the setting/culture portrayal, but I’ve been wondering why I feel dark and anxious the last couple days and it’s the book. I am done. Lmao.

Need to go read my sad little man grieving by the sea book now to be able to sleep:(
