We can’t see the bigger picture or future that the evil disasters (even sin at times) might lead to our change (or others change) and our/others salvation. This is why God allows evil to hit us, and why He even allows sin, despite it being hateful to God.

Saint Remigius - foresaw terrible famine in the next year, so he gathered reserves to feed the poor. But some of the poor were wicked and started to say he was stocking up for other reasons against them, so they burned the wheat. The saint did not complain and was more sad about the state some of his flock was to do such evil. Shows that stocking up is good, but faith in God and God’s will is most important
