Local author with 33 Vermont based crime thrillers, featuring Joe Gunther of the VT Bureau of Investigation, published over the past 27yrs.Read a few nonconsecutive installments several years ago when I first moved to this part of VT but,unless I come upon them again & recognize that I've already read them, can't identify which titles they were!
All are crime-fighting-in-VT themed,a bit formulaic but great local fun!

Good question, Berengaria! And one that I can not readily answer!I don't follow trends, they more often than not lead to disheartening FOMO.
Personally, I do my best to support local farmers/manufacturers/businesses/artisans/sports/clubs/authors, etc. In the "authors" category Archer Mayor seems to be well published and does write crime thrillers as well as any similar author in about the 75-80th percentile. Some other local authors - not so much. My experience reading Reviving Artemis: The Making of a Huntress was abysmal.
There are countless obscure Vermont authors, one I've read, and enjoyed, since joining gr is Joseph Citro author of Green Mountain Ghosts, Ghouls & Unsolved Mysteries: A Comprehensive Guide to the Haunted Sites, Folklore, and Strange-But-True Facts of Vermont and New England (hmmm, looks like my final review of this one will be a little tardy) and Curious New England: The Unconventional Traveler’s Guide to Eccentric Destinations - recently read and reviewed, 5stars!
On the flipside Midwives by Chris Bohjalian was wildly popular when published in 1997 and the author has since become a NY Times best selling novelist; you may have heard of him 😉?
For the longest time, they were thought to be novelties with virtually no sales potential here, because the publishing industry thought it impossible that someone in Bremen would want to read anything set in Bavaria, and vice versa. Then, for some reason, they became trendy a few years back and now there stacks and stacks of regional mysteries available widely from all over Germany. Amazing what trendy monkeys these people are.
