This is the BEST "Teach Yourself" I've run across! Excellent approach, genuinely helpful exercises. None of the "tourist" BS you usually see.
Why Afrikaans, you ask? The Germanic languages are my speciality topic and I've only just gained access to a wider breadth of materials for Afrikaans, which is one of the rarest major Germanics, along with Icelandic.

Continues to be good but has slipped into tourist BS and rugby talk.*boo hiss*👎 Because I can read Dutch, I understand about 85-90% of the texts already, but I'm not so sure those with zero pre-knowledge wouldn't struggle with the complexity.

Fi'n siarad Cymraeg yn rhugl ond fel ail iaith. Aeth fy mhartner i a'i phlant i ysgolion Cymraeg, felly maen nhw i gyd yn siarad Cymraeg. Yn personol does dim lot o hyder da fi wrth siarad Cymraeg ... ond fi'n siarad fel bardd ar ôl yfed digon o gwrw! Ek het ook die meeste van my skooljare in Suid-Afrika gehad, en was daardie tyd vlot in Afrikaans, maar nou het ek die meeste daarvan vergeet. Ek kan dit nog lees nie te sleg nie, maar onthou nie genoeg om gesels te hê.
