Such a big holocaust theme in my life the past year including a real life visit to Auschwitz, The Nightingale, and now The Hiding Place! I’m a little weary of it all…I still need to finish Viktor Frankle.

This is just a lot for me 💔😭 I think being PHYSICALLY IN the barracks of Birkenau, gas chambers of Auschwitz, and standing on the same stones as the firing squad more than accomplishes the imagery and descriptions ten Boom offers. The overwhelming majority of readers most likely have not stepped foot in Auschwitz/Birkenau.

I think my timing of this read and the overwhelming concentration camp emphasis is inhibiting my ability to appreciate the themes of God. I have digested so much Nazi and concentration camp material in the past year, I’m glossing through this one, unfortunately.

I must have started this book randomly at work and never logged it on here! Picking it back up at work! There are definitely some lines that are awe-inspiring and remarkable. I wouldn’t say I’m seeing “the faithfulness of God on every page” or sobbing through this one as I’ve heard it described, though…
