Correction after reading one more phone screen-length page: not the reason why anything aside from Photons exists, but anything aside from anti-matter. Photons are neutral, not matter or anti-matter, so they survive too.

For example, positrons annihilate electrons, but for every billion electrons annihilated, one "survives". Same for hadrons, and other matter.

Recapping the 20 phone screen-length pages I’ve read: there’s a curious asymmetry of a billion to a billion and one between anti-matter and matter, which is the reason why anything (aside from Photons) exists at all. That’s crazy
