WHAT. Kagan knows Ryun’s father???? The plot thickens!

So the Nhaga just… swallow their prey whole. Like snakes.

Murdered by his own sister. Tragic.

Once the Nhaga men come of age, they go into the jungle for a bit. Probably to prove themselves. Also, they’ve got no concept of a father. The men aren’t see as parents at all, just donors.
But Ryun understands the concept of a father, and knows about other human concepts, like clapping. Who is teaching him these things?

A father!
Ryun’s father died in the heart tower. Was he executed? Had he refused to give up his heart and lived for years undetected, until he was found and killed?

Was the wrestling how Kagan met the Tokkebi lord?
Lol Kagan is extremely socially stunted after years of living alone. And it’s affected his memory. Poor man.

Is it just a trait of the characters we’ve seen so far? Or is conception difficult for Nhagas?
Once a man comes of age, he has to leave his family household. Where does he go then? Does he couchsurf between women’s houses? It seems like that’s what the other men do. What happens when they conceive, does the father play any role in the child rearing?

I’d like to write down what I’ve learned about Nhaga society. It’s matriarchal, but in a weird way where you have to have a child to have status? Households are lead and comprised by women, and men that sort of come and go. There’s no monogamy, you just have sex with whoever and hope that it results in pregnancy. What’s with this desperation to have a baby?

I was right. Hwarit’s sister raped him, or at least proposed sex. Jesus, that’s awful.

The rescue mission is for Hwarit. But why?
Why doesn’t Sammo want to marry? Is she just an independent woman? Or could she be a lesbian?
