The dreaded frenzy to survive has started happening. These poor folks don't really seem to stand a chance.

First of all, let me say the cover on this alone is pretty cool. I came across this and couldn't really resist a book about the Donner party. I am surprised that this is actually really good. It also uses old time vocabulary, a big plus,words like "grit" and when they curse they say "Judas Priest"! Of course, you know what is going to happen to these poor folks, but the way the drama is playing out is very engaging.
