Another instance in which Clary demonstrated bravery was when she ventured into her apartment to find her mother, despite the fact that her mom had warned her to not come to the apartment via phone call. Also, during the call, Clary heard things crashing and breaking in the background, and the call had ended abruptly.

One character trait demonstrated by Clary has been bravery. First, when she was at the dance club and saw two Shadow Hunters following a boy and carrying knives, she went after them to help the boy. Clary would have needed bravery for this, considering that she could have been killed..

At this point in the novel, Clary has discovered people called Shadow Hunters (demon hunters), whom only she can see. A demon attacked her in her apartment, but she killed it and escaped. Sadly, it appears her mom was killed by the demon as well.
