Sorry about the anxiety inducing events in your life, hope it all gets better for you soon Laura. I had a period of time when I had a lot stress and anxiety, reading was also of immense help - at least it made me forget the worries for a bit!

Sometimes it's an ideal escape for me, and sometimes I can't still my mind and focus enough to read --the anxiety overwhelms everything. Fortunately, this time reading was the perfect cure.
