Mark Durden I know this is your second time reading this, but I'm interested to hear your thoughts. I recently read Of Mice and Men and really enjoyed it, but the representation of some characters (including the only female character) was pretty problematic. I have heard the same thing about East of Eden. Obviously you like it (as I did Of Mice and Men) I'm just curious if the representation of women is similar in this book?

Molly Hadfield I don’t think the representation of women in East of Eden is problematic, however there is a female character who is very complex and not necessarily sympathetic. I don’t find that to be problematic though.
