Is this a space opera or a philosophy classic?? Hadrian can’t do anything without questioning his entire existence. Not complaining though because I’m enjoying this one a bit more than book 1.

I felt the same. Too much philosophizing. It continues through further books as well but never so much as Howling Dark. The books keep getting better and darker. I just finished Kingdoms of Death, one of the darkest and yet really amazing sci-fi fantasy.
