1. Can motivate us to work harder because we thing we have something to prove (vs. confidence which would make us complacent)
2. Can motivate us to work smarter - when we think we are not going to win, we have nothing to lose by rethinking our strategy (total beginners don’t fall victim to the Dunning-Kruger effect)
3. Can make us better learners (knowledge)
