The taste of bitterness and melancholy will stick with me. This book is felt more than understood. The feeling of hazy memories and romanticized youth, endless summer, the gilded age, that sliver of time between the 2 world wars when the aristocratic world was alive but doomed.
A place as remembered by someone who knows he’s already lost it. Beautiful and haunting.
