People who aren't fans talk a lot of smack about Sanderson's writing style -- I often wonder if they are reading for something other than what he's interested in doing. Few fantasy authors set up a battle scene with as much inherent drama as he does. Yarros comes to mind, but so far her action scenes are not as sprawling. The seven-way standoff at the 60% mark in this book soars.
