Hmm. An interesting notion and finally some worldbuilding about the gods themselves from Niklaus. I feel like had this story started with Zenya at a young age and then progressed chronologically, then Mills would have had stronger character development and stronger worldbuilding by page 100. The moments in the present are definitely the weakest aspect so far because there’s been no background

I find it odd the gods don’t have names. It’s literally “the mecha god,” “the scholar god,” etc. it’s sort of giving “unpolished” vibes. Like an early draft where the author thinks, “I’ll go back in with names once I’ve given it more thought.” Placeholders, basically. Names would make the worldbuilding feel more lived in. More familiar. More real.

I might want to DNF this already. I know I’m barely into it and I should give it more of a chance, but I’m not loving the writing. Instead of these opening chapters being a hook to draw me in, I just feel so lost because there was no set up whatsoever and I feel zero connection to anything - characters, setting or plot.
