I dunno if I can do this one. It's well-written and likely has a lot of profound things to say about womanhood and modernity and American religion but... Holy fuck do I hate the protagonist/narrator. I hate having to live in her head. And the premise of the book just fills me with such gnawing dread. It's probably the most horrific story I've been witness to, bar none.

Hannah Woznick Wait a second… I thought you liked insufferable main characters? This is why i DNFed. I know it’s supposed to be satirical but like… the author clearly hated the MC.

Hannah Woznick I just think it needed to have some redeeming qualities to make it not horrible to read and it didn’t

Valerie Usually I like insufferable main characters when I can relate to a part of them being insufferable (see every edgy fmc in every fantasy story). But this gal I just envisioned calling me transphobic slurs and yelling at me for using the bathroom 💀💀💀
