Relatable lol. Fun to compare Duxbury farming with Damariscotta farming. Fun to read her writing about the niche weird arm pain after shucking hundreds to thousands of oysters and putting that feeling into words.

This books makes me hungry, literally because of all the foodie talk, but also in the sense it’s inspiring me to start making life plans and ponder an actual career.

I highly recommend this book! She also mentions other books which have been on my reading list, Geography of the Oyster and Consider the Oyster, we sell both in our merch shop, I wouldn’t be surprised if I come home from work today with a copy of each. We have very different backgrounds but I see a lot of myself in Erin Byers Murray, aka Pain, and her oyster journey.

It’s fun reading about how other farms run their upwellers and nurseries, made me want to keep texting my farmer friends so I kept getting distracted. I like how the author weaves a lot of her personal life consequences of such an intense job in between the details of the job itself. Not book related but I read it while doing tummy time. 10/10 recommend.
