I don't know why I'm trying to finish this, but if you're thinking about picking this up, I beg you. Read slugs by Shaun Hutson instead

Okay, so there's this scene where the military blasts a hoard of viciouskittens to gory bits. Explosions. Fire. Machine guns. The works. However, when the smoke clears, and there's a bunch of matted fur and gore everywhere, the civilians cheer? I get that the military was protecting the public, but I just don't see a massive people cheering on the slaughter of cats in any context.
