Some passages really hit differently. For example, when Mokhtefi recalls how she connected and bonded with locals after moving to Algiers: "I developed tremendous affection for several courageous Algerian women: Yamina Belkacem, both of her legs torn off when the bomb she was carrying detonated off-schedule, who was light enough for me to carry in my arms and set on the passenger seat". Just started re-reading it and it's literally sooo good. Also it seems that, in my first reading of it, I missed how closely the author became involved with Fanon, meeting him first in 1960 in Accra, and later in the US, where Mokhtefi worked for the Algerian Office and became the contact person for Fanon who came to the States for treating his leukemia (unsuccessfully as is well known).
