Ah, I had no clue this was turned into a movie. I'll have to check it out once I'm finished. It seems like it'd be a tricky book to adapt! Glad you ennjoyed it :)

I cannot assass, if the book turns into a good movie. But the movie, considered as an independent work , was great

I had constant problems with the pronouns 'his' and 'her' and just gave up. I don't know if it was deliberate. Maybe I should try again some time because I read and liked another shorter book by him. Maybe a long prose poem? It was excellent.

Oh, it’s definitely deliberate! There’s a dreamlike quality to the work that’s super disorienting at first. I think it’s supposed to represent the characters becoming so immersed in each other’s existence, and in the shared trauma of the war, that the boundaries between their thoughts and speech almost seem to blur. As I keep reading, though, I find that some of that initial confusion starts to fade, and the pronoun bit especially becomes much easier to follow. So yes, I’d definitely recommend giving it a reread!
