Decades of protestant vs catholic cultural clashes, & parliamentarian vs royalists radical government reforms, plus the ongoing continental thirty years war, & horrible economic & social conditions including overpopulation, all contributed to the outbreak of the english civl war in the 1640s.

King Charles fails in arresting five opposing members of parliament and the entire city of London becomes chaotic over dread of armed conflict between royalists and parliamentarian people. It falls apart and people start seizing and stockpiling weapons in anticipation of civil strife.

King Charles loses the Covenanter’s war against Scotland because hes an arrogant homo who thinks he can tell his entire population what to do (also he used unwilling conscripts to fight Scot veterans of the thirty years war)

Some Puritans published works condemning & harshly criticizing elements of King Charles & his wife. One was thrown in prison for life, had his ears cut off, nose slit, & face branded with two S’s. Another publisher wrote a piece criticizing people’s long hair and calling women actresses whores. King Charles had the top of his ears snipped off. At this, The Attorney General “laughed so hard his penis bled”

Reading about King Charles’ absolutism and hatred of the common people, I can see why they later executed him
